Galvalume® roofs are composed of 55% aluminum and 45% zinc alloy. Bethlehem Steel developed this product as a coated steel in 1972. The production of Galvalume® involves a “continuous hot-dip process”. This process involves cold rolled steel coils that are welded end-to-end and processed continuously on a coating line at high speed. The process is completed by utilizing various finishing steps that results in a sheet that is wrapped around a reel into a coated steel coil.
